A border marks out territory, on land, in society, or in the mind. This ambiguous instrument to protect ourselves or others pops up around us all the time. Borders can be a restriction, but they can also give way to new possibilities. Why do we think we need certain borders and do they give the protection we expect them to give us?

At the Blackmarket for Useful Knowledge and Non-Knowledge: Defense Lines experts tell you in a one-on-one conversation about the (un)justified boundaries of privacy; how lock-picking creates safer locks; how flora and fauna survive in the city, and a large number of other topics.

During the Blackmarket the audience gets access to knowledge that is not commonly available. The theme ´Defenselines´ is investigated through a wide variety of angles, thus shedding light on a broad range of knowledge. The event is a concept of the Mobile Academy, under direction of Hannah Hurtzig. The edition ‘Defense Lines ‘ has been developed and produced by Bik Van der Pol. Previously, the event has also taken place in Vienna, Eindhoven and Jaffa, amongst others.
